Wave test site set for port in Cornwall

A "nursery" testing site for wave energy devices is to be set up in Falmouth Bay on the south coast of Cornwall following an agreement between the Falmouth Harbour Commissioners (FHC) and the Crown Estate. The FabTest facility, which will not be connected to the grid, is intended as a first stage site for testing wave energy systems that might later be deployed at the Wave Hub grid-connected demonstration facility on Cornwall's north coast. The new site has also been issued with a marine licence by the Marine Management Organisation, which allows the mooring of up to three marine energy converter devices. It will be managed by a partnership between FHC and the University of Exeter.
