Renault opens €28 EV testing centre

Renault has formally opened a €28 million test centre for electric vehicles at Lardy in France, with test facilities for electric motors and batteries. Operational since 2009, the centre has now been expanded to cover 3,300 m2 and more than 100 test benches. The centre has been in charge of development and validation of the per- formance, reliability and safety of the electric pow-erplants fitted to vehicles in Renault's ZE Zero Emissions range. The group recently launched Kangoo Van ZE and Flu-ence ZE, the first of four electric vehicles that will be released over the next year. French utilities and public bodies have put in large orders for the van.
