One area of sports measurement that still needs further work, says Professor Mike Caine of the department of sports technology and innovation at Loughborough University, is in the qualitative assessment of ergonomics and comfort. "Measurement is very much an underpinning area for sports engineering and technologies have been enhanced and optimised through sports and applied in non- sporting areas. The future will be about integrating systems and improving the user interface."
