The 2012 Fiona and Nicholas Hawley Award for Excellence in Environmental Engineering from the Worshipful Company of Engineers has been won by Christopher Vagg from the University of Bath's Powertrain and Vehicle Research Centre, part of the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Chris Vagg's work, A Driver Advisory Tool to Reduce Fuel Consumption in Light Commercial Vehicles, is an excellent demonstration of a practical application of known technology by the provision of a simple and low-cost device that enables drivers of light commercial vehicles to achieve significant savings in fuel usage, CO_2 emissions and related maintenance by adopting improved eco-driving.
