Plastic wire goes into sensitive areas

Draw-wire sensors are used in industries from heavy machinery through to the kind of precision control needed in medical devices. At the heavy end, Micro-Epsilon has supplied systems to measure piston displacement in cranes and off-road construction machinery. At the lighter end, it recently extended its WireSensor range with a version that has a plastic line rather than a conventional steel wire.
