MEP challenges Commission on food packaging safety

The lack of safeguards on materials used in food packaging will be debated in the European Parliament on 23 February, with questions from Belgian Green Bart Staes.rnThe MEP is concerned that substances occurring in food contact materials migrate into food and that there is only a "basic" Regulation 1935/2004 to protect consumers and specific legislation on some materials such as plastics and ceramics.
