Environnement & Technique : What would be the ideal agreement for the Climate Action Network? Alix Mazounie: Ideally, the Paris agreement would be a founding moment for a global energy transition. A moment when governments would officially endorse the planned end of fossil fuels and the gradual introduction of renewables. It would also make it possible to secure solidarity with the poorest countries. This ideal is not reflected at all in the negotiations. It is particularly disturbing to see that we can't negotiate the end of fossil fuels at the world level, by 2050, for example. However, the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) and the International Energy Agency (IEA) both say that two-thirds of fossil fuels must be kept in the ground if we are to have any chance of keeping global warming below 2℃.
