Obama Prepares to Sign $1 Trillion Omnibus To Bring FY 2012 Spending Process to Close

President Obama is expected to soon sign into law the nearly $1 trillion omnibus spending package, a move that will bring the fiscal year 2012 appropriations process to an end, including funding for the Environmental Protection Agency and the Interior Department. The omnibus (H.R. 2055) was cleared by the Senate on Dec. 17, one day after the House passed the measure. Under the omnibus bill, EPA would receive $8.4 billion for the current fiscal year, a funding level that is 3.2 pejcent below the fiscal 2011 level.
