Inspector General 'Frustrating' McCarthy With Role in Ongoing Jurisdictional Dispute

Threats by the Environmental Protection Agency's inspector general to deploy what's seen as the tool of last resort in an ongoing jurisdictional dispute with the agency's homeland security division are "especially frustrating," Administrator Gina McCarthy wrote in a letter obtained by Bloomberg BNA July 23. At issue is whether the Office of Homeland Security, a 10-person division within McCarthy's office, blocked access to and withheld information from the EPA Office of Inspector General.
