In recent times there have been a number of government departments and primary contractors nationally releasing public tenders for new building design works, requiring the project information to be created and managed using a propriety file format. This claim by the newly formed OpenBIM Alliance (OBA) has set alarm bells ringing for many suppliers and contractors to the building industry, particularly engineering and building services consultants that rely on specialised software to conduct their business.
