Infrastructure luminary to speak

It would be hard to find someone better qualified to talk about infrastructure than Sir Rod Eddington, particularly where transport is concerned. The engineer and former CEO of Cathay Pacific, Ansett Airlines and British Airways was awarded a knighthood by the British Government for service to civil aviation. Upon his retirement in 2005 he was tasked by that same government to examine the long term links between transport and the UK's economic productivity, growth and stability. One of his recommendations was reform of the planning process for major transport infrastructure. Now the chairman of Infrastructure Australia, Eddington has the task of highlighting the importance of infrastructure, not only to the economy, but to the community, and sustainability.
