About 15 camels sauntered across the horizon several hundred yards from Camp Castle's perimeter concertina wire. The camp in central Kuwait is the operations base for Navy Mobile Construction Battalion Seven. It took a long night's journey into day to get here. Based in Gulfport, Miss., NMCB-7 is one of 10 Seabee battalions commissioned during World War Ⅱ. The Seabee credo is "We Build, We Fight." Stocked with skilled tradespeople, the Seabees act as the Navy's construction work force. In World War II, the unit was sent to the Pacific, building base camps, runways and hospitals for U.S. Marine forces.
