The double-acting displacer/power cylinder assembly, though a challenge as being the first attempt for this type of component, plus the fact that nothing like it had been seen or machined before, was a delight in construction and provided a good number of hours of careful machining, all multiplied by 4. As seen in Fig. 2 and Photograph I, shown previously, the assembly of the various units - the displacer unit on top of the machined extension which is on top of the power unit, with pipes coming out from various places, may look daunting! However this is not so. Only accurate machining and the right components are required plus some long evenings.
