When it came to machining the cylinder block of my 6-inch scale Fowler B6 crane engine, I did not have an adjustable fly cutter that would extend to the diameter needed, I therefore had to make something to do the job. Since this was likely to be the only time I will ever need to cut a radius of this diameter I decided to make a fixed, non-indexable cutter and then use the milling machine table to bring the cutter far enough into the block to give the final size.
