RESOLVING MORAL DILEMMAS IN CORPORATE DECISIONS

Moral dilemmas are different from moral issues. These are more complex, being context bound and involving justifiable claims of competing interests and values. The ability to confront and resolve difficult moral dilemmas calls for personal qualities, apart from purely cognitive abilities. Thus, there is an increasing interest in business and management ethics, and hence in curriculum for ethical education and development for managers. It has been suggested that a multidimensional approach be adopted to ethical education as a life-span process entailing the development of personal/interpersonal skills, qualities and self knowledge, as well as cognitive skills.
