Top British firms investing heavily in R&D

Leading UK Firms spent almost £21bn on research and development (R&D) during 2006 - a rise of 9 per cent -according to figures published by the Department for Innovation, Universities and Skills (DIUS).rnThe annual R&D Scoreboard, published in collaboration with the Department for Business, Enterprise and Regulatory Reform (BERR), also shows that the 75 biggest R&D investors based in the UK have increased their R&D spend by 12 per cent.
