Boiler Room Safety: Combustion Explosions

In past issues, this series of articles has addressed steam and waterside explosions and carbon monoxide in the boiler room. This article focuses on the problem area of combustion explosions. Most often, this type of explosion occurs during either the initial startup of a new boiler or burner installation, or during the start cycle of an existing boiler/burner, often referred to as a "puff" or a "hard start."
