The Engineer Training Support Battalion: Training Our Regiment

Soldiers from the Army National Guard and U.S. Army Reserve comprise 80 percent of the Engineer Regiment, so Army engineers must understand how these forces are trained and assessed. First Army engineer training support battalions and their combined arms training brigades train and assess Reserve Component (RC) units across the country according to First Army priorities and critical lines of effort (LOEs). This article describes the mission, priorities, and LOEs of engineer training support battalions and presents the major implications for the Engineer Regiment.
