Licenses and Certifications: Expanding and Verifying Professional Excellence in the Engineer Regiment

For the Engineer Regiment credentialing efforts to be successful, leaders, supervisors, and mentors must understand the breadth of credentials available to help subordinates set long-term professional development goals. This article describes the purpose and requirements of three licenses and several certifications related to Engineer Regiment capabilities and missions. Although there are other relevant credentials, those discussed below are relevant to a variety of engineer military occupational specialties (MOSs) and grades as credentialing goals that are achievable when combined with complementary educational goals. Achieving any of these credentials can improve and validate the professional competency of U.S. Army engineers and can greatly assist in their transition following military service.
