摘要

The size and complexity of a heating hot water (HHW) system serving a large university campus creates unique challenges as the system expands and ages. The opportunities for energy savings in a large HHW system are difficult to quantify due to the complexity of the system and the limited instrumentation available to understand how the loop is operating and where the trouble spots are. Through the use of hydraulic simulation software and analysis of the available plant-side data, the performance and operating characteristics of the system can be understood and improved. This article will describe the method used to analyze the Texas A&M west campus HHW system and the improvement opportunities that were discovered. Some of the components of the analysis include: boiler efficiency, boiler operating strategy, total system simulation, boiler pump configuration, and facility expansion evaluations.
