The US$600-million Hollywood and Highland project is a new, colossal entertainment complex that occupies nearly two city blocks and features the Kodak Theatre, a grand ballroom, restaurants, nightclubs, cinemas, a hotel, parking and 230,000 square feet of world-brand retail space. The centerpiece of the 640,000-square-foot development is the 3,650-seat Kodak Theatre, which is the new home for the annual Academy Awards. Operated by Marriott International, the 24-story Renaissance Hollywood Hotel is on the northeast side of the complex and features 640 rooms. The entire complex is situated above a one-million-square-foot, six-story underground parking structure which in turn is above a new MetroRail subway station. Fujitec America, Inc. supplied the entire complex with vertical transportation (VT) equipment, including the MetroRail station.
