THE PART-TIME INVENTOR AND THE INDUSTRIALIST

This is the story of two 19th century inventors, both of whom made contributions to the development of the modern passenger elevator. While the precise value of these contributions may be difficult to determine, both individuals were significantly unique to warrant our attention and interest. In fact, it is a unique quality of the "part-time inventor" that causes me to ask my readers for a little patience, as I will not reveal the inventor's identity until near the end of the article.
