As seen from the air, the city of Chicago, Illinois sprawls from Lake Michigan's Lake Shore Drive inland to the horizon, but once on the ground and traveling through the various ethnic neighborhoods, the sprawl becomes a live tapestry of people who all seem to be moving everywhere at the same time. The freeways and streets are jammed, day and night, as a mobile society lives up to its name. However, it's this movement of people that is the essence of existence for the Chicago Transit Authority (CTA).
