RECONSTRUCTION OF THE TIMES SQUARE STATION

Times Square represents the crossroads of New York City. Locally and nationally, if not internationally, it is the symbolic center of the cultural world. The Times Square Station Complex, served by a network of four subway stations, is the mass transit hub of that crossroad. More than 266,000 passengers traverse the complex each day. Many of the customers transfer between stations but are counted as passengers only once. The total equivalent utilization in the complex is almost 1/2 million people each day, which makes it the busiest station in the entire Metropolitan Transit Authority's New York City Transit (NYCT) system.
