This article focuses on three frequently misunderstood issues of utmost importance when considering the utilization of static drives. Prior to selecting the type of drive for modernizing elevator control systems, a general understanding of harmonic distortion, measurement of voltage total harmonic distortion (VTHD), and motor generators versus static drives is required.
