September 1998 saw the opening of an elevated, driverless line in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, and October 1998 witnessed two more APM openings, along with expanded service on downtown Jacksonville, Florida's Skyway. One of these is small, contained within the private luxury of Las Vegas, Nevada's new Bellagio resort (see ELEVATOR WORLD'S January 1999 issue). Another is the "metro of the 21st century," inaugurated with full fanfare as the 14th Paris, France metro line - this one with full automation in control.
