Automatic parking garages have never achieved the widespread application in the U.S. that they have in Japan, Korea and other parts of Asia. In fact, Asia has Monthly Elevator and Parking and Monthly Parking Business magazines, both devoted solely to automated parking garages. However, in the early 1950s, ELEVATOR WORLD first reported on a new phenomenon - automatic parking garages, announcing that the office building of "tomorrow," as well as the apartment building and hotel and department store - will be constructed with parking facilities located on each floor.
