Detection of Turn to Turn Short Circuit in the Transformer Windings by using the Magnetizing Current Method

This article describes the principle of measurement of magnetizing currents in transformers, including its practical applications for defect diagnosis, and it describes the dia-grams employed for measurements. Exemplary results of measurements carried out on transformers after their emer-gency tripping Operations by relay protection, have also been presented. The advantages and disadvantages of the above method are discussed.
