Matching sections: who needs them?

This article looks at the why and how of Matching Sections - why they are necessary and how they may be realised. It is now widely (and correctly) reported that the publication of SARTOR 3rd Edition (1997) has resulted in Incorporated Engineers being recognised as 'Degree Level Professionals', with enhanced academic standards being phased in over the next few years. These higher standards will be enforced for all students commencing courses from September 1999 but allowance will be made for those already on courses; in certain cases current academic standards may apply up to 31 December 2002 (see later).
