Our present approach to energy is unsustainable; finite resources will run out and polution harms all of us. Steve Diver proposes a clean alternative and invites debate The purpose of this article is not to present a fantastic new technology or revolutionary scientific discovery, but to bring together some apparently disparate ideas in technology, sociology and economics. The ideas involved are relatively simple, but what is important is their interaction and my hope is that this article will provide a springboard to encourage, or maybe even provoke, further discussion. Therefore this article serves its purpose as much by the arguments it invites for and against it, as it does through its own thesis.
