The British engineer and his status

I have followed with great interest the correspondence in our journal, and the debate in the wider world, concerning the status of the engineer in Britain, and am prompted to write by the letters from Malcolm Lugton and John Warbrick in the December 1998 issue of Engineering Technology (Proud to use the title 'Engineer').
