Meniscus injuries frequently lead to the operative removal of this cartilage tissue. Arthritis can develop over quite a long period of time, and in critical cases, an artificial joint has to be implanted. A new biological meniscus implant has been developed to prevent these degenerative changes, and early results show that the meniscus can be regenerated within a period of 12 to 18 months.
