Wireless and mobile communications are the fastest growing microelectronics applications, With enormous impact on solution makers. Driven by the insatiable demand for lower cost, lower power and higher data rates in wireless and mobile communications systems, there is a growing demand for CMOS wireless System-on-a-Chip (SoC) solutions. This trend has motivated the evolution of and research on low-voltage, low-cost RFIC designs. CMOS quadrature oscillators are used widely in modern digital communication systems; they are the essential circuit blocks in fully-integrated CMOS image-rejection, direct conversion, or low-IF receiver and transmitter systems.
