First SCOSTA compliant smart card for healthcare launched in India!

First SCOSTA compliant smart card in India was launched by the Chief of Army Staff, Gen. NC Vij, on January 12 for a non-transport application - ex-Servicemen Contributory Health Scheme (ECHS). SCOSTA - Smart Card Operating System for Transport Applications -which was developed as an operating system standard for smart card for transport applications, mainly Driver licence and Vehicle registration, has yet to be seen operating for its original usage!!
