The attempts to ensure punctuality and fool-proof attendance system by some Indian municipal authorities by using modern gadgets like biometrics smart cards, have met resistance from the workers.rnFirst to complain were the workers in Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD), where the biomet-ric attendance system was introduced in August last year to ensure transparency and punctuality. Around 200 biometrics machines, costing about Rs. 30,000 each, were put up by the civic agency in their headquarters at some of its offices.rnSimilarly, the decision taken by the Margao municipal council (MMC) to make marking of the attendance on biometric machines for employees compulsory, took a funny turn.
