Rajkot railway station gets an automatic ticket vending machine (ATVM), giving a great relief to people as it will cut down on time spent standing in queues for train tickets. The city will have the distinction of having the first ATVM in Saurashtra. One can buy tickets by inserting smart cards into the automatic machine which is embedded with touch screen operations. The smart card can be bought by paying a deposit of Rs 30 and a balance amount of Rs 1,000 at the minimum. A customer who buys ticket using the smart card will be entitled to a 5% concession. The smart card will have a validity period of six months.
