Reliance Power unveils green power unit

Anil Ambani's Reliance Power has switched on the fourth 300-mw unit of Rosa power plant to complete the 1,200 mw project in UP four months ahead of schedule , even as it has announced plans to invest Rs 6,000 crore in setting up mainline solar power plant in Rajasthan. The project has been built with an investment of Rs 6,000 crore and is the first new power plant to be built in UP in the last 20 years. The project is operating at 95% capacity and will feed all its power to UP, taking care of 15% of the state's energy needs. Supply from the plant is good to light up about 30 lakh households. The company last week also unveiled a Rs 700-crore solar plant at Dhursar in Rajasthan with a capacity of 40 mw. This is the biggest grid-linked solar power plant in country. Both projects have begun commercial operations and have been developed with the support of state government organisations like Odisha Renewable Energy Development Agency (OREDA) and Directorate of Horticulture.
