Smart cards to mark the attendance for students and teachers is the next step planned by the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) to ensure proper implementation of the Right to Education Act. The project, called implementation of educational integration project for NDMC schools, was initiated in September last year and completed recently. The initiative is part of e-governance project in education system. NDMC officials said smart cards will streamline educational system and help record all data for further analysis. The new system will replace the manual recording of attendance, compilation of results and performance. The civic agency has completed the project in 34 schools - 11 Navyug schools and 23 are NP schools. The data collected through the initiative will help authorities decide on future course of action to better educational facilities.
