NDMC to revive smart card projects for hawkers

In September 2013, New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) had set a two-month deadline for issuing smart cards to hawkers. But the plan never materialised. It is once again toying with the idea of giving smart cards to licensed hawkers in areas under its jurisdiction for easy verification. According to NDMC, at present there are 961 licensed street vendors operating with its nod and the civic body has constituted a town vending committee to conduct a survey for updating the rolls.
