Assam govt proposes to issue National Identity Cards

After having gone through the massive documentation exercise involving the publication of the National Register of Citizens (NRC), the Assam government has sent a proposal to the Government of India for issuing National Identity Cards for its citizens. The state government also wants to get in place the first 'Digitised Locker' wherein all the relevant documents of the citizens will be stored for future reference.
