Optimal sharing of Huffman tables for memory-constrained variable length coding of multiple sources

For memory-constrained variable length coding (VLC) of multiple sources, sharing of Huffman tables is necessary. Several sharing methods are presented, including a locally optimal method, which can be applied to many adaptive VLC systems with memory constraints.
