Efficient lossless coding scheme for vector quantisation using dynamic index mapping

摘要

The authors propose an efficient lossless coding scheme for vector quantisation (VQ) indices using a dynamic index mapping, which transforms an original index to a new index with a lower entropy. Simulations show that the proposed scheme considerably reduces the average bit rate both in ordinary and hybrid VQ systems for image compression.
