摘要

The authors analyse the effect of line repairs after cable breaks in transoceanic regenerated WDM soliton systems. A theoretical 5/spl times/20G bit/s WDM system with 50 km/350 km amplifier/regenerator spacing is used as a test example. The system robustness to the insertion of up to 10 km of repair fibre jumper corresponding to high-depth breaks is numerically demonstrated.
