Taiwan laptop makers move into SW China

Taiwanese contract laptop maker Compal Electronics intends to build a manufacturing plant in China's southwestern province of Sichuan.rnCompal chief financial officer Gary Lu said that the company has signed a letter of intent with the Chengdu city government, but said the two parties were still discussing the financial details of Compal's investment, the facility's site and production volume. Plans should be finalised before the end of the year.
