Browsing the Internet the other day, I stumbled upon a webpage with the intriguing title 'Doomed Engineers' - a welcome change from the numerous articles (the latest -'Engineering Terror' - was published in the New York Times magazine on 12 September, 2010) about the disproportionate number of engineers in terrorist and extremist groups.rn"Why are so many extremists from a single profession?" asked the article, before suggesting an answer: due to "the combination of sharp mind with a loyal acceptance of authority."rnIt went on to assert, rather blatantly and bluntly, that "among Communists, anarchists and other groups whose shining ideal lies in the future, the researchers found almost no engineers...".
