Privacy in libraries

The American Library Association views privacy as essential to the exercise of free speech, free thought, and free association. Many libraries have written policies designed to preserve the privacy of patrons and visitors. Statements of intentions topreserve privacy are important as guides to the behavior of library personnel. This article looks at the problems associated with privacy in libraries.
