Understanding Information and Computation: From Einstein to Web Science

The internet is changing the way people interact, how students are educated and is in the process of transforming societies everywhere. And yet, the whole is so new that no one has had time to really investigate its nature, to examine what underlies the emergent properties that impact on us all. To understand the nature of the internet requires an examination of its fundamental properties and how the various parts interact. This type of examination has come to be known as Web Science, and Philip Tetlow was one the earliest and best known of its proponents.
