Interfacing to data conversion devices with conversion rates greater than 300MHz

There is an increasing demand in radar and Electronic Warfare (EW) systems for data conversion rates in excess of 300MHz and even up to 1GHz. In radar systems this allows smaller range resolutions to be achieved and in EW systems signals with greater instantaneous bandwidths to be received. Most applications also require compact solutions and all require low risk and cost. Racal Radar Defence Systems Limited has developed a Multiplexer/Demultiplexer GaAs ASIC that integrates this interface into a single device. This device provides demultiplexing and multiplexing between 2 bit data at 300MHz and 12 bit data at 50MHz. It also includes several unique features not available on commercially available devices.
