Conexant rolls Docsis 2.0 modem IC

Newport Beach, Calif. - Conexant Systems Inc. is stepping up its efforts in cable modems with the release of a customer premises equipment (CPE) modem chip that supports some of the physical-layer capabilities being laid out in CableLabs' emerging Docsis 2.0 specification. Backward-compatible with Docsis 1.0 and 1.1, the CX24951 combines the cable modem baseband, media-access control (MAC), and A/D and D/A converters on the same die.
