Germany's Qimonda AG has formed its latest memory venture, this time with Japan's Sony Corp.The companies have signed an agreement to form a joint venture called Qreatic Design. The scope of the joint venture is the design of embedded and "customer specific" DRAMs for consumer and graphics applications.The 50-50 joint venture will start with a staff of up to 30 specialists from both Sony and Qimonda (Munich), with plans to expand its capabilities substantially by hiring additional designers. Qreatic Design win be located in Tokyo and is expected to start operations by the end of the year, subject to regulatory approval and other closing conditions.
